The Reloop Beatmix promises plug-and-play DJing for Virtual DJ.Reloop today launched its latest controller, the Beatmix – a two-channel model designed specifically to work with Virtual DJ.Its focus is “plug and play”, aiming to help DJs to get up and running with the minimum of fuss. But while it is stripped back to basics, it still manages to pack in a pretty solid feature set. Features include individual filters, a microphone input, 14cm aluminium dual-function jogs, channel EQs and gains, and a “beat mash” mode. It has onboard four-channel USB audio, 70mm pitch faders, and controls for effects, smart looping, hot cues and Virtual DJ’s sampler. There’s also fader start. The supplied Virtual DJ version is a four-deck “Reloop Edition” LE, but for those wishing to use it with other software it it fully Midi mappable, and Traktor 2 Pro mapping is available.Output is via twin RCAs, and there’s VU metering too.

Setup & First ImpressionsThe Reloop brand has been putting out some very good quality DJ equipment and their controllers are no exception. The new Reloop Beatmix 4 is an excellent controller for those DJ's on a budget or for lower level DJ's who want to hone their craft before spending the big bucks. The Reloop Beatmix 4 has a full four decks of control with a three-band EQ, linefaders, and even Gain controls for each channel. The Beatmix 4 also has a full featured effects section above each deck and an official aluminum top jog wheel with an LED ring to show needle position.
The Beatmix 4 has the familiar multi-color performance pads under the jog wheels to handle the Hotcue, Loop, and Sampler functions of the software. There is an RCA output on the rear for connecting speakers and a microphone jack with volume control knob on the front. There's also a quarter-inch and a mini headphone jacks on the front panel for monitoring. Conclusion / Recommended ForIn Conclusion, the Reloop Beatmix 4 is a great Entry-Level controller with a really good price-point. The Beatmix 4 gives users a full four decks and channels of Serato digital control.
For a limited time, buyers will get a voucher code for the Full Serato DJ edition software to work right out of the box. Even after the limited time deal is done, there is still a lot of great on-board features found on the Beatmix 4 including sample control, Hotcue control, Loop control, and effects controls. The aluminum top jog wheels have a great weight and feel to them while the crossfader is mapped good enough in Serato DJ to appease most hip-hop style DJ's. On the downside, the Beatmix 4 is made up of all thin plastic so DJ's should be careful when transporting the device. There are also no LED line level metering to show the user where they are in terms of getting volume into the red. The other gripe I have with the unit is that even though it comes bundled with the full Serato DJ (for a limited time), the user won't be able to take advantage of the advanced features such as Slip Mode or Slicer since the controller doesn't have the configuration to do so.
So even though a user may upgrade to Serato DJ, this probably isn't the best controller to take full advantage of the full software.
